- Previous experience working in a Hematology and Oncology Office preferred
- Previous experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system required
About the Role
Lowcountry Oncology Associatesis seeking an Infusion Nurse to join a team dedicated to delivering compassionate high-quality cancer care in a supportive outpatient this role you will play a vital part in the patient experience providing infusion therapies monitoring patient responses and serving as a trusted source of education and support throughout treatment. Working closely with physicians advanced practice providers and fellow clinical staff you will help ensure safe efficient and personalized care for patients facing cancer and blood disorders. This opportunity is ideal for a nurse who enjoys building meaningful patient relationships thrives in a collaborative setting and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients and families every day. Responsibilities include:
- Observes patient records significant conditions and reactions and notifies supervisor or Physician of patients condition and reaction to drugs treatments and significant incidents.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient and their families provides blankets snacks and beverages.
- Works collaboratively with the Physicians and RNs to deliver chemotherapy regiments to patients according to Physician orders.
- Practices safe administration of infusions injections and transfusions.
- Takes temperature pulse blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
- Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up including but not exclusive to providers social work dietician integrative medicine pharmacy navigators laboratory radiation therapy genetics and clinical research.
- Assists with administering shots and phlebotomy as required.
- Reviews all chemotherapy regiments before delivering to patients.
- Put away medical and supply stock as delivered.
- Check infusion regiments for accuracy communicate to the clinical care team regarding any concerns.
- Participates in continuing education in service and department trainings as required.
- Manage a caseload of patients receiving a variety of infusion therapies on an outpatient basis.
- Practice patient confidentiality at all times including abiding by HIPPA requirements.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care in our community for our community and by oncologists who live in our community.
