Information Technology Technician Level I
Non-union at-will position
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide users with technology support and education while contributing to and aligning with the Strategic Plan of St. Clair County RESA (SCCRESA). The Level I Technician delivers Helpdesk assistance to SCCRESA and its clients through hardware and software setup troubleshooting problem resolution asset management infrastructure support and project initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree preferred but not required. Verifiable equivalent experience will substitute for
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience with multi-platform networks and multi-vendor hardware and software systems is required.
- Proficient skills using Google Suite and Microsoft Office are required.
- Strong ability to read write communicate and present in English including understanding and applying technical manuals procedures rules and spoken instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively and to establish effective working relationships with SCCRESA staff clients contractors vendors and the general public.
- Receptive to supervision feedback coaching and corrective action with patience respect and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Strong client service skills including client needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluating customer satisfaction along with basic mathematical aptitude and high accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Highly adaptable to changing environments competing demands delays and frequent interruptions with the ability to maintain flexible working hours.
- Valid drivers license and reliable personal transportation is required for travel to remote sites (mileage is provided at the IRS rate).
- Excellent attendance history and schedule management. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide professional helpful remote and on-site IT support to SCCRESA and its clients adhering to service agreements.
- Install troubleshoot maintain and remove computer equipment and software.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records within the ticketing system used consistently and
- Assist clients in the acquisition of new products and technologies from ITs approved standard configurations and assist in coordinating operational and technical support from vendors.
- Work with departmental staff to identify problems that can be solved through the use of
- Assist with project initiatives and overall IT department functions and provide input to IT strategies and plans.
- Retain knowledge and understanding of network operations and remain abreast of the newest communications protocols.
- Foster positive relationships with clients vendors and team members in a collaborative
- Comply with all safety rules departmental norms and SCCRESA policies and support continuous quality improvement efforts and the Systems Thinking philosophy.
- Promote the vision mission and values of the department and SCCRESA and perform other assignments as specified by IT Leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee must be able to sit bend stoop crouch kneel crawl stand walk climb stairs and work aloft at elevated heights (including climbing and safely operating from ladders stepladders or scissor lifts). The position requires pushing or pulling equipment carts; reaching forward above and below shoulder level; working in tight or confined spaces (such as server racks under desks network closets or plenum spaces); and demonstrating fine motor dexterity to manipulate small hardware handle hand or power tools and terminate/crimp network cables. The employee must have the visual acuity to differentiate color-coded wiring standards operate computers lift and transport equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds to a height of six (6) feet and tolerate server room environments with continuous noise and temperature variations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position Status: Non-union at-will
Duration: 12-month position 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday normal office hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Location: St. Clair County RESA Marysville MI with travel to client sites as needed
Employment Date: Pending Board approval and successful completion of background check fingerprinting and pre-employment drug screen
Salary Range: RESA salary schedule for IT Technicians
