Contra Costa Health is seeking qualified individuals to fill one (1) vacancy in the Information Systems Project Manager classification.

Under the direction of the Health Services Information Technology Assistant Director or designee with wide latitude for independent decisions plans directs and coordinates activities of a designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Projects may involve major modifications to existing systems or the implementation of discrete new IT facilities or systems. May coordinate project activities with agencies outside of Contra Costa Health Services. Incumbent can manage all portions of a project from the initial fact-gathering meeting through post-implementation review.

What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Overseeing project delivery from Discovery to Closure
  • Ensuring all resources assigned to the project are meeting timelines escalating when appropriate
  • Applying your understanding and experience with modern software development information systems infrastructure and sound IT processes and best practices
  • Leading high-risk high-impact strategic projects involving a diverse group of technologists clinical stakeholders and business professionals
  • Serving as a project manager for major complex systems development and analysis projects encompassing development infrastructure quality assurance (including test plans) regulatory compliance process improvement data management and recovery efforts
  • Ensuring project governance is established and that communication occurs effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Managing projects to develop implement and deploy large or complex software applications including designing configuring testing system software and troubleshooting user software issues

Minimum Qualifications

Education:Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in computer science data communication information processing or a closely related field.

Experience:Four (4) years of full-time experience managing complex information systems projects which must have included three (3) years of - project management responsibility for large applications systems and team leadership experience.

Substitution:Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Selection Process

  1. Application Filing and Evaluation:All applicants must apply on-line at and submit the information as indicated on the job announcement and supplemental questionnaire by the final filing date. Depending on the number of applications received an Application Evaluation Board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the examination.
  2. Oral Interview:The oral interview will measure candidates competencies as they relate to the theoral interview candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of theoral interviewcompetencies as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include but are not limited to: Critical Thinking Delivering Results Oral Communication and Project Management. The assessment will be administered remotely using a computer; You will need access to a reliable internet connection to participate in the assessment.Tentatively scheduled: July 29 - August 3 2026 (Weighted 100%).
  3. Final Selection Interviews:To be scheduled by the department once the eligible list is established.
