Information Security Systems Engineer

Summary

The Information Security Systems Engineer is a key member of the Information Security Practice at Abacus Technologies responsible for delivering cutting-edge security solutions to protect organizational and client assets. This role blends technical expertise client consulting and project execution to address evolving security needs in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a passion for helping clients achieve a secure and resilient infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Security Architecture & Design: Develop and implement security solutions including firewalls intrusion detection systems endpoint protection and secure access controls.
• Client Advisory & Consulting: Engage with clients to understand their security needs provide tailored recommendations and develop actionable security roadmaps.
• Project Execution: Plan and deliver security-focused projects ensuring timely and successful implementation of solutions that align with client objectives.
• Threat Analysis & Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security threats and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
• Incident Response: Lead and support the investigation and resolution of security incidents including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Compliance & Governance: Ensure organizational and client compliance with security frameworks regulations and best practices (e.g. CMMC CIS NIST ISO 27001 GDPR).
• Collaboration & Enablement: Work closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to integrate security into system design operations and business processes.
• Security Awareness: Assist in developing and delivering training programs for clients and internal teams to enhance overall security awareness and best practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Research and implement the latest security technologies and methodologies to improve client and organizational defenses.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Configure and manage security monitoring tools analyze logs and produce detailed reports for internal and client use to maintain a robust security posture.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in cybersecurity including security engineering client advisory or consulting roles.
• Strong understanding of security protocols encryption network architecture and secure coding practices.
• Hands-on experience with security tools (e.g. SIEM firewalls IDS/IPS endpoint security). Familiarity with cloud security platforms (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) and related tools.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python PowerShell or Bash.
• Experience in penetration testing incident response forensic investigations
• Knowledge of compliance standards and frameworks (e.g. CMMC HIPAA PCI-DSS NIST ISO 27001 CIS).
• Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills with a consulting mindset.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP CISM CEH or CompTIA Security.
