Industrial Instrument HVAC Technician South Treatment Plant

• Troubleshoot repair and maintain all plant Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems. Including all Water-Cooled Chillers reciprocating and screw type compressors package units with different tonnage configurations.
• Install troubleshoot and repair distributed and supervisory control systems (DCS/SCADA) programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and single loop controllers (SLCs); Apply electronic theory digital electronics and proportional integral derivative (PID) control strategies to implement program changes to DCS/SCADA and PLCs.
• Analyze industrial processes in troubleshooting and repair of process control instrumentation. Design new controls and implement modifications to existing control systems. Update technical and process documentation Work with operations personnel engineers and suppliers to explain the function of processes and procedures needed for the operation of new equipment.
• Make recommendations on purchasing and inventory requirements for all HVAC and or Instrument related equipment and determine appropriate inventory of spare parts for HVAC and Instrumentation.
• Assist in inspection of instrumentation installed by contractors as well as witnessing and assessing loop commission testing. Review modify and update drawings to conform with established plant standards.
• Make recommendations on purchasing spares and inventory requirements for all HVAC and or Instrument related equipment.

• Ability to recover and reuse different types of refrigerants using HVAC/R testing and recovery equipment while following EPA guidelines.
• Knowledge of the principles andtechniques of instrumentation and HVAC electronics (typically found in a four-year apprenticeship program two years of college level training or an equivalent combination of education and work experience). Demonstrated work experience (three years) in a journey level industrial instrumentation HVACor related field such as electronics.
• Knowledge of the installation configuration and maintenance of analyzers/sensors control system computers single loop controllers signal converters distributive and supervisory control systems detection equipment/sensors fuses including soldering and brazing techniques.
• Knowledge of Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control loops including single loop controllers and configuration.
• The position requires the ability to work all shift schedules and required reporting to work during adverse and inclement weather conditions and be on a rotating standby call list after a 9-month probationary period.
• Incumbents perform field work at a wastewater treatment plant and associated off-site facilities and are required to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds work in Permit Required confined spaces kneel crawl walk and climb using ladders catwalks and stairways work indoor and outdoor in open tanks and vaults and around noxious odors and high noise levels.

• Incumbents perform field work at a wastewater treatment plant and associated facilities and are required to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds use ladders.
  

• Outdoors environment during wet weather confined space and maybe exposure to hazardous chemicals and noxious odors.

• A valid unencumbered Washington State Drivers License.
• City of Seattle Refrigeration Journeyman Mechanics License*** either Class A or C or a refrigeration journeyman level license from another state that is acceptable to the City of Seattle and that is transferable and verified. Ability to obtain the license from City of Seattle within 9 months pending job offer.

• Allen Bradley PLC and Panel-view programming experience
• Wastewater experience.
• A Boiler license 4th Grade or better Ability to obtain the license from City of Seattle within 9 months pending job offer.
• Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification to buy and handle refrigerants
• City of Seattle Refrigerating Operating Engineer License
• City of Seattle Steam Operating Engineer Grade 3 License

• Work Location:South Treatment Plant 1200 Monster Rd SW Renton WA must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
• Work Schedule:This full-time position works a 40-hour work week with 4-10hr or 5-8hr schedule options available. This position is overtime eligible. This position requires the ability to work all shift schedules and to report to work during adverse and inclement weather conditions and be on a rotating call list upon completion of a 9-month probationary period. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
• Union Representation:This position is represented by SEIU Local 925.
• Physical Requirement:Incumbents perform field work at a wastewater treatment plant and associated facilities and are required to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds use ladders and there is exposure to hazardous chemicals and noxious odors.
