Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineer (IE) is a key member of the Continuous Improvement team leading and supporting high-impact initiatives across Distribution operations. This role identifies and executes opportunities to reduce costs improve quality increase capacity maximize processing efficiencies and enhance customer satisfaction. The IE evaluates processes challenges existing practices and drives sustainable improvements through the application of Lean Six Sigma and Industrial Engineering principles supported by data-driven analysis standardized workflows and performance management. Operating in a highly cross-functional environment the role partners with Operations Supply Chain Safety Quality Engineering and IT while collaborating with Global Operational Excellence teams to deploy and align with company-wide initiatives with occasional support to other sites. This position manages multiple concurrent projects ensuring alignment to business priorities and successful delivery from concept through implementation using structured problem-solving and project management methodologies. The IE may also engage vendors and external partners to support process equipment and technology initiatives. The Industrial Engineer improves operational performance within Distribution by enabling more efficient consistent and scalable processes. This role drives measurable business impact through strong project leadership analytical capability translation of business priorities into actionable improvements and driving strategy into practical operational execution.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Identify prioritize and execute opportunities to improve operational performance.
- Analyze current-state processes to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.
- Develop and implement sustainable solutions using structured industrial engineering methodologies.
- Establish sustain and standardize improvements through clear documentation and repeatable processes.
- Cost Reduction & Productivity Improvement
- Identify and execute initiatives to reduce operational costs and improve productivity.
- Build business cases to justify investments and improvement efforts.
- Track and validate financial impact ensuring initiatives deliver expected savings and performance outcomes.
- Project Execution & Delivery
- Lead and execute multiple concurrent improvement initiatives from concept through implementation.
- Define objectives approach and success criteria aligned with business priorities.
- Apply structured problem-solving methods to analyze issues and develop effective solutions.
- Drive timely execution and ensure initiatives deliver measurable operational and financial impact.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations Supply Chain Safety Quality Engineering and IT teams.
- Facilitate workshops kaizen events and stakeholder alignment sessions.
- Communicate project progress risks and results to key stakeholders.
- Support alignment with Global Operational Excellence initiatives and standards.
- Process Standardization & Governance
- Develop and deploy standardized processes and industry best practices.
- Ensure adherence to established standards and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Support process reviews time studies and compliance with operational requirements.
- Change Management & Sustainability
- Drive adoption of new processes through training communication and stakeholder engagement and alignment.
- Ensure improvements are embedded and sustained within operations.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Provide coaching and guidance to cross-functional teams on CI principles and methodologies.
- Capacity Planning & Operational Efficiency
- Analyze labor workflow and material movement to optimize throughput capacity and efficiency.
- Support facility layouts line balancing and workflow design activities.
- Identify bottlenecks and constraints and implement solutions to improve flow.
- Assist in planning for volume changes growth and operational scalability.
- Data Analysis
- Collect analyze and interpret operational data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Develop performance metrics dashboards and reporting to drive visibility and accountability.
- Use data to support decision-making validate improvements and quantify results.
- Monitor post-implementation performance to ensure gains are achieved and sustained.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams supporting multiple concurrent initiatives/projects.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering field is required (industrial or manufacturing engineering strongly preferred). Masters degree preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred (Green Belt or higher).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Strong understanding of lean industrial engineering and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong math analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written verbal and presentation skills with effectiveness across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively facilitate align and influence stakeholders.
- Ability to manage cross-functional coordination without direct authority.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Lists).
- Highly organized and diligent with follow-through.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently without losing efficiency.
- Be capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Experience leading Kaizen events or CI workshops.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP platforms.
- Understanding of Distribution or manufacturing operations workflows and product flow.
- Proficiency in data analysis/visualization tools (Minitab Tableau or similar)
Work Environment
- Normal warehouse and office environment with some exposure to dust heat and cold.
- May include prolonged sitting in front of a computer.
- May be required to travel as needed.
For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation the starting base pay for this role is between $52188.00 and $69584.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
