The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the installation maintenance troubleshooting repair and inspection of electrical systems and equipment supporting mining processing and production operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe reliable and efficient operation of underground and surface mining equipment processing facilities conveyor systems pumps motors controls instrumentation and power distribution systems.
The successful candidate will possess strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills a commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced mining environment.
- Inspect troubleshoot diagnose and repair electrical equipment and systems in mining and processing facilities.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems motors motor control centers (MCCs) switchgear transformers and power distribution equipment.
- Install maintain and repair AC/DC motors variable frequency drives (VFDs) soft starters and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults using electrical drawings schematics meters and diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain and repair lighting systems electrical panels control systems and communication systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation devices sensors transmitters and process control equipment.
- Assist with PLC troubleshooting and automated control systems.
- Support calibration and testing of instrumentation equipment.
- Perform basic programming modifications under supervision when required.
- Maintain electrical systems associated with:
- Conveyors
- Crushers
- Hoists
- Pumps
- Ventilation systems
- Compressors
- Mobile mining equipment
- Processing plant equipment
- Support planned shutdowns turnarounds and capital improvement projects.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to MSHA regulations and electrical safety standards.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings audits and incident investigations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent industrial electrical experience.
- Minimum 35 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- Blueprints
- One-line diagrams
- Technical manuals
- Working knowledge of:
- Motor controls
- MCCs
- VFDs
- PLC systems
- Instrumentation
- Industrial power distribution
- Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
- Journeyman Electrician License.
- Mining potash aggregate cement manufacturing chemical processing or oil & gas experience.
- MSHA training and mining industry experience.
- Experience with:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Siemens PLCs
- SCADA systems
- Industrial automation systems
- Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to safely work around high-voltage electrical systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize work in a production-driven environment.

- Ability to work in underground and surface mining environments.
- Ability to climb ladders stairs and elevated platforms.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
