The Donaldson internship program provides innovative students with meaningful hands-on experience in a collaborative industry environment. Through real-world projects mentorship and development opportunities we aim to support career growth and build a talent pipeline aligned with our values and goals. This internship takes place in summer 2027 during a 10-12-week period.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology is responsible for deploying processes automation and capital equipment for Donaldsons manufacturing plants. The Industrial Data Systems Intern will work with our team to support with AMT automation equipment and software systems. The position is located in our Bloomington MN world headquarters and will interact with colleagues in the US as well as teams in Europe Asia and Latin America.

Qualified candidates must be able to work an on-site schedule at our Bloomington MN office.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support development and deployment of SCADA software applications and manufacturing data systems.
• Assist with database setup data migration reporting dashboards and data analytics projects.
• Help develop and maintain databases data visualization tools and reporting systems for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and IT teams to improve operational performance through data and automation.
  

Example Intern Projects:

• Configure and maintain manufacturing databases.
• Support data migration and system integration efforts.
• Develop SCADA screens reports and dashboards.
• Analyze manufacturing data and create visualizations.
• Assist with Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing initiatives.

Travel: Up to 20%

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Data Science or a closely related major.
• Familiarity with SQL databases data analytics or software development concepts.

• Experience with Python C R or other programming languages through coursework projects or internships.
• Applicants may need to be U.S. Persons as defined by applicable regulations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
• Interest in manufacturing systems automation industrial software or data science.
• Coursework projects or internship experience related to:
  • SCADA MES or industrial automation systems
  • SQL databases reporting or data migration
  • Data analytics visualization or data science
  • Ignition Oracle or similar platforms
  • PLCs HMIs robotics machine vision or industrial networking
• Web application or dashboard development experience.

Relocation: This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Hourly Pay Range: $22.00 - 28.00 depending on projected undergraduate graduation date educational degree in progress and major of study upon time of hire.

This position is overtime eligible as per state and federal regulations.
