Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeking a dependable student-focused In-School Suspension (ISS) Teacher Assistant to support the academic and behavioral success of middle school students assigned to theISSprogram. TheISSTeacher Assistant will supervise students throughout the school day maintain a structured and positive learning environment monitor behavior and assist students in completing assigned coursework.

The ideal candidate will possess strong classroom management skills the ability to build positive relationships with students and a commitment to helping students remain engaged in their learning while promoting accountability and personal growth.

• Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension throughout the school day.
• Maintain a safe structured and orderly classroom environment.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies consistently and fairly.
• Support students in completing assignments provided by classroom teachers.
• Communicate with teachers regarding student work completion and progress.
• Track attendance behavior and academic completion for students inISS.
• Encourage appropriate student behavior and provide positive redirection when needed.
• Assist students with organization time management and study skills.
• Document behavioral incidents and communicate concerns to administrators as needed.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations.
• Collaborate with administrators counselors teachers and support staff to support student success.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to effectively supervise and manage middle school students.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or youth-development setting.

• Associate degree or higher.
• Previous experience as a teacher assistant behavior support staff member or school-based support professional.
• Training or experience in classroom management restorative practices or student behavior interventions.

• Strong classroom management and behavior-monitoring skills.
• Ability to establish clear expectations and routines.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with school staff.
• Patience consistency and a student-centered approach.
• Proficiency with basic educational technology and communication tools.

• Ability to move throughout the school campus and classroom environment.
• Ability to supervise students in various settings throughout the school day.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and supplies as needed.
