Job Summary
Position: Civil Rights Specialist
Job Description: Seeking a detail-oriented Civil Rights Specialist to analyze complaints determine outcomes and manage caseloads within a fast-paced environment. The role involves applying civil rights laws and agency regulations to investigations conducting interviews drafting consent agreements and facilitating negotiations and conciliations. You will also monitor compliance maintain thorough case records and educate others on civil rights issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of civil rights complaints to identify legal issues and determine probable cause.
- Conduct interviews with complainants respondents and witnesses; draft clear case summaries.
- Draft consent agreements support mediation efforts and negotiate settlements with a public-interest focus.
- Monitor compliance of consent agreements through on-site assessments and reviews of reports.
- Maintain meticulous case files and monthly activity statistics; educate and train others on Civil Rights laws.
Required/Desired Skills:
- 4 years of professional experience in civil rights public administration law or related fields (degree substitutions available per policy).
- Thorough knowledge of Indiana Civil Rights Law HUD/EEOC standards and relevant court decisions.
- Strong analytical and writing abilities to communicate complex findings clearly.
- Ability to conduct difficult investigations maintain confidentiality and manage a heavy caseload in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in interviewing stakeholders and drafting agreements is highly desirable.
