Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for assessing patients mental physical and spiritual needs planning and implementing individualized care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team and providing skilled nursing care during surgical procedures. The role requires strong clinical judgment to monitor patient conditions effective communication with patients and team members and meticulous documentation. The RN contributes to a healthy workplace environment and participates in continuing education to maintain high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities:- Assess patients to determine mental physical and spiritual needs.
- Develop implement and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Provide explanations and instructions to patients and responsible persons.
- Use nursing clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition.
- Manage conflict professionally to contribute to a healthy workplace environment.
- Meet Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience and certification relevant to Operating Room nursing.
- Strong clinical assessment and nursing judgment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced certifications such as ACLS PALS NRP or specialty area certifications related to cardiac intensive care emergency room or neonatal nursing.
- Experience in progressive care units cardiac services interventional imaging or recovery rooms.
- Knowledge of Core Measure compliance and quality improvement processes.
- Work includes on-call duties as required.
- No block scheduling requests; shift assignments cannot be guaranteed.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Four 10-hour shifts per week.
- Shift times and days assigned based on departmental needs without block scheduling.
