FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
*This is a temporary position expected to last for approximately six (6) months. There may be an opportunity for extension but this is not guaranteed.
OVERVIEW:
Prepare and execute Shipping documentation and related paperwork for products and materials shipped to worldwide locations that meet all compliant requirements of customers forwarders and banks in accordance with all US Export Import and Domestic regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to and promote all company safety rules.
Follow company policies procedures regulations and work instructions
Issue all documentation required to facilitate timely shipments that meet customer requirements and support GIW shipment process
Documents for all shipments to include but not limited to: Commercial Invoices Order Confirmations Packing Lists Cargo Pick Up Notices Shippers Export Declarations UPS labels Bills of Lading Canadek Declaration NAFTA etc.
Communicate with various departments to assist in solving documentation and/or logistics issues that may arise.
Continually expand knowledge of import/export compliances rules and reulations by attending training sessions reading publications seminars etc. as approved.
Mandatory continuing education and training on import and exports.
Continually improve processes workflow and update work instructions as needed.
Provide back-up assistance with export domestic and import shipments.
Filing storage and maintenance of shipping documentation in accordance with all requirements.
Coordinate and communicate with customer customers freight forwarders or designee concerning logistics issues to make shipments happen in a timely manner to meet customers requirements.
Work with various departments as needed on LC orders provide input and feedback and present documents to banks.
Member of the IDDC team and as such needs to be a good team player by developing and maintaining healthy working relationships with internal and external customers.
Train others on processes to promote a cross functional team
Basic knowledge of Scheduling Systems (AS400 and Synchrono) and continual training on all systems.
Process all rush shipments in a timely manner.
Report any issues and/or issues to Supervision/Management.
Perform other duties as assigned and requested by members of Supervision/Management within the defined time frame given.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- One to two years post high school education in business basics or equivalent in work experience. Professional Export and Import Training Certification is a plus.
- Minimum two years of experience in an international sales office environment with international logistics experience. Strong knowledge of Inco Terms and US Export/Import Administration Regulations required. Strong proficiency in the use of a computer including Microsoft Excel and Word with the willingness to learn new software systems as required. SAP experience a plus.
