Job Summary

TheVice President Congressional Relationsis responsible foradvocatingICBAs legislative policy positions before the Congress (both House and Senate) financial regulatory agencies and theExecutiveBranch. This role alsoassistsand informs ICBA members on congressional activities and with policymaker include communicatingassociation policies to members other financial groups and the position is open to applicants in the Washington DC Youll DoMaintain continuous contact with members of Congress their personal officestaffand key committee grassroots/grass tops lobbying efforts to motivate members and influence PAC events both in-town and members visitingCongressional offices and negotiate bill language and/or and report on Congressional hearings and legislative with association members to formulate association developing strategies for lobbying Congress in coordination with legislative and regulatory drafting congressional testimony letters position papers regulatory comments and thoroughly prepare associationmemberstestifying before Congress and regulatory for attend and report on association committee meetings and other a timely mannertobankerand press andmaintainrelationshipwith other lobbyists tradeassociationsand with state banking associations on Federal legislationRepresent association at industry conferences coalitionmeetingsand other gatheringsAreas of legislative responsibility:Monitor and influence legislative and regulatory developments in assigned legislation in assigned areas for impact upon community banks and their members of the congressional and regulatory teams on priority lobbying You BringMinimumBA degree: law or public policy degree preferredMinimum seven (7) years of related government relations or trade association experience including working knowledge of banking and financial services issues; Congressional experience preferredStrong writtenanalyticaland oral communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills including the ability tointerface well withmembers of Congress Hill staff member bankers and ICBA staff colleaguesAble to work well both independently and as a member of a teamAbilityfor travel 10%We recognize that candidates may not meet every qualification listed. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors including but not limited to experience qualifications location market data and internal equity.
