SUMMARY
General Summary:Install repair and perform preventive maintenance of heating ventilation air conditioning and related systems at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Majority of work is related to highly specialized PC Air units which cool aircraft while on the ground. Perform skilled repairs and preventive maintenance to heating and air conditioning equipment both chilled water systems and direct expansion equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Install repair and perform preventive maintenance of HVAC and related systems.
- Provide lead direction to other building maintenance workers.
- Perform semi-skilled to skilled repairs and preventive maintenance to plumbing and electrical equipment and other building systems as needed.
- Complete all associated paperwork.
Education & Experience:
High school graduate/GED required with five years of experience or associate degree and three years experience in a relevant work/industry/military/job specific experience that provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties. NC State HVAC H2 or H3 license preferred. Performs other general maintenance work incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order including basic electrical and plumbing.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Read and write sufficiently to complete related paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints.
- Must have Universal CFC certification. North Carolina State Contractors licenses: H1 H2 or H3 preferred.
- Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers the traveling public and tenants.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to spend about 90% of time standing bending reaching walking and driving. The rest of the time includes a combination of sitting twisting kneeling squatting crawling climbing lifting shoveling and carrying. Typically would not lift or carry more than 50 lbs. however occasional assisted lifts up to approximately 120 lbs. particularly when handling compressors.

General Information:
- Standard shift hours apply. Hours subject to change and overtime. Works assigned shift subject to emergency call back to work during emergencies urgent situations special events and inclement weather.
- Must be available for work for a rotating weekend and holiday duty schedule.
- Valid drivers license with no more than 6 points and ability to qualify for City driving permit.
- Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process candidates may be asked to take a skills test and/or participate in other assessments.
