Job Summary
MalaceHR is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support operations at a large industrial facility in Kernersville NC. This position will be responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems while also assisting with general facilities maintenance and a variety of work orders throughout the site.
The ideal candidate will have approximately 3 years of industrial HVAC experience strong chiller knowledge and an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification. This is a hands-on facilities position requiring someone comfortable working on both HVAC equipment and other building maintenance systems.
- Troubleshoot maintain service and repair industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on chillers rooftop units DX equipment compressors refrigerant circuits and related mechanical systems.
- Support a facility containing 9 chillers and 4 rooftop units including equipment approximately 30 tons and larger.
- Perform refrigerant recovery charging leak detection brazing and other refrigerant-related work in accordance with EPA requirements.
- Troubleshoot HVAC electrical components low-voltage controls sensors and related equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and facility equipment.
- Monitor system performance and identify equipment or operational issues before they result in downtime.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings schematics wiring diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Complete and document work orders using the facilitys computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Respond to general facilities maintenance work orders in addition to HVAC-specific assignments.
- Assist with equipment startups commissioning repairs and system improvement projects as needed.
- Follow all site-specific environmental health and safety requirements.
- Participate in an on-call rotation every third week.
- Work available overtime as needed. Overtime opportunities will be offered on a first-come first-served basis.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
- Approximately 3 years of hands-on industrial or commercial HVAC experience.
- Experience servicing and troubleshooting larger HVAC equipment and refrigerant-based systems.
- Knowledge of compressors refrigerant circuits electrical components and mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot HVAC controls and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Ability to perform general facilities maintenance outside of HVAC responsibilities.
- Ability to read schematics wiring diagrams and technical equipment documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to safely work in an industrial facility environment.
- Experience working with large chillers including equipment up to approximately 300 tons.
- 5 years of chiller experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with larger HVAC systems in the 150200 ton range.
- Industrial or manufacturing facility maintenance experience.
- Experience with BAS/BMS platforms such as Johnson Controls Trane Siemens Honeywell or Schneider.
- Technical or vocational training in HVAC or a related field.
- NATE HVAC Excellence OEM-specific or other relevant HVAC certifications.
- Experience with HVAC startups commissioning retrofits or system optimization.
