HVAC Controls Sales Engineer Intern

Position Summary:

The HVAC Controls Sales Engineer Internship is designed for engineering students who are passionate about technology but also enjoy building relationships solving customer challenges and working in a collaborative customer-facing environment.

This role bridges engineering and business by providing hands-on experience with HVAC controls building automation systems (BAS) energy management technologies and technical sales. Interns will learn how to apply engineering principles to design customer-focused solutions perform technical evaluations and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences. Through field exposure mentorship and real-world projects interns will gain valuable experience in both technical problem-solving and professional relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Sales Engineers in the design and development of HVAC controls and building automation solutions that address customer operational sustainability and energy-efficiency goals.
• Participate in customer meetings site surveys and technical discussions to gather building requirements and understand mechanical electrical and control system applications.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals presentations scope documentation and solution recommendations for customers contractors and consulting engineers.
• Shadow Sales Engineers throughout the sales lifecycle including opportunity identification customer discovery solution development proposal generation and project turnover.
• Collaborate with Operations and Project Teams to gain an understanding of system installation commissioning startup activities and project execution processes.
• Work alongside Service Operations teams to understand system maintenance troubleshooting methodologies lifecycle service strategies and long-term customer support.
• Participate in project walkthroughs and construction site visits to observe HVAC controls installations and understand the integration of mechanical equipment sensors actuators and control networks.
• Utilize Salesforce estimating and engineering support tools to track opportunities maintain project documentation and support sales forecasting activities.
• Develop the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear business value propositions for customers building owners contractors and consulting engineers.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Engineering Management Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S. (sponsorship is not available for this roles)
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) throughout the summer
• Interested in combining engineering expertise with customer engagement business development and consultative sales.
• Strong analytical communication and presentation skills.
• Comfortable interacting with customers contractors engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Interested in smart buildings building automation systems and HVAC technologies.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19.00-$22.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education experience knowledgeskills and abilities of the applicant internal equity location and alignment with market data.)
