The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Chiller Service Technician. This position will be responsible for performing chiller inspections and maintenance. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and work well with others. Position requires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers Service Coordinators and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems including air cooled chillers centrifugal chillers pumps cooling towers air handler units valves fan coil units variable air volume systems etc.
  • Diagnose and repair of machine and equipment defects including electronic mechanical and electrical components related to these systems. Also includes diverse service issues obtain any replacement parts calibrate system to manufacturers recommendations and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
  • Oversee installation and operation of various mechanical systems.
  • Lead role in defining and developing the training materials and tools needed to support our chiller/HVAC maintenance business.
  • Be available to work some nights or weekends on a rotating basis to service emergency needs of our customers.
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary reporting any mechanical issues. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis. Proper stock parts tools and safety equipment shall always be maintained in the vehicle.
  • Maintain all relevant documentation related to all services and tasks performed including make model serial number necessary test measurements and pictures as necessary.
  • Provide detailed complete and timely paperwork as required.
  • Identify and report to supervisor/manager potential business including site visits conference calls with subcontractors and cost estimation.
  • Provides updates to communicate to dispatch parts procurement supervisors and managers as needed to keep company and customers informed about work progressions.
  • Scheduling and coordinating services with the customer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Required Profile

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid drivers license with good driving record
  • Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus
  • Previous experience of 5 years in chiller/HVAC maintenance mechanical engineering or other related fields.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Good analytical skills attention to detail and ability to train junior technicians.
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner making sure job is done correctly the first time.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone iPad)
  • Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman Boiler Operator Gas Installer etc.)
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment exposure to extreme weather conditions risk of electrical shock (high voltage) climbing/working at elevated heights etc.
  • Must be able to climb crawl stoop kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties.

Other Skills & Abilities

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Environmental Requirements

Will be required to work in a field environment multiple customer sites on a daily basis.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand walk and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
