Job Summary

Humanities Teacher - Alternative High School - Adams Academy Program

Weymouth Public Schools is a dynamic and inclusive learning community educating over 5600 students in 11 school buildings including Weymouth Early Childhood Center eight elementary schools (grades K-5) Chapman Middle School (grades 6-8) and Weymouth High School (Grades 9-12).

Qualifications:

  1. Must be licensed with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education 9-12 (English or History license preferred)
  2. SEI Endorsement required
  3. Must hold a bachelors degree or higher.

General Duties:

Guides and evaluates the learning experiences of students and accepts responsibility for the supervision safety and appropriate conduct of students within their assigned areas of responsibility including within the school building on school grounds and during school-sponsored activities.

Specific Duties:

  • Provides effective instruction consistent with applicable curriculum standards and the needs of students.
  • Participates in faculty meetings workshops and other required professional activities.
  • Provides instructional assistance to students outside the regular student day when necessary and consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Participates in curriculum planning professional development and other activities designed to support effective teaching and student learning.
  • Maintains and prepares student records reports and other required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Exercises reasonable care in the use and protection of school property instructional materials supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate records and accountability for books supplies materials and equipment assigned to the classroom or the teacher.
  • Performs instructional and non-instructional assignments consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Complies with School Committee policies administrative procedures and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities reasonably related to the position and consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
