Job Summary
Serve as Apples subject matter expert on human rights risks in upstream extractive materials and renewable energy supply chains in alignment with international standards and Apples Supplier Code of ConductnIntegrate Just Transition principles into upstream sourcing strategy including affected communities worker transitions and supply chain decarbonizationnLead regulatory preparedness for the EU CSDDD and other emerging supply chain legislation; monitor the landscape and translate developments into actionable intelligencenAssess policy program and documentation gaps against regulatory requirements and build roadmaps to address them including deep-tier supply chainsnRepresent Apple in industry working groups multilateral forums and standard-setting bodiesnBuild relationships -- primarily in Europe -- with NGOs civil society think tanks and private sector partners; identify opportunities to advance Apples human rights vision publiclynPartner cross-functionally with Government Affairs Legal Corporate Communications Business Compliance Procurement and business teams
Masters degree (or equivalent) in human rights international development law sustainability political science natural resource governance or a related fieldn15 years of experience in human rights within extractive industries and/or upstream materials supply chainsnDeep knowledge of OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and ILO core conventionsnProven expertise in CSDDD the EU CRM Act and the EU Forced Labour Regulation; direct experience with LkSG the French Duty of Vigilance or equivalent frameworksnDemonstrated understanding of Just Transition principles including community transition planning economic diversification in resource-dependent regions and climate-linked supply chain risksnWillingness to travel 10-15% domestically and internationally including to producing regionsn
Experience running complex multi-stakeholder initiatives with civil societynmultilateral institutions and private sector actorsnExcellent written and verbal English; additional European languages are an assetnStrategic thinker who translates complex regulatory and human rights issues into clear actionable policy positionsnExceptional writing and editing skills with ability to synthesize complex topics quickly under time pressurenStrong stakeholder management across NGOs civil society governments and standard-setting bodiesnEffective working both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional international environmentsnHighly organized self-directed and detail-orientednGenuine passion for social environmental and human rights responsibilityn
