Description

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of and reporting to the Executive Assistant the Human Resources Generalist performs a wide variety of HR administration duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies procedures and reporting are compliant.
  • Assists Supervisors with recruiting interviewing testing and selecting employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and 401(K) plan personnel transactions such as hires promotions transfers performance reviews and terminations and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Process payroll and generate related reports and documentation. Process employee wage garnishments as required by law.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life health dental and disability insurances 401(K) plans vacation sick leave leave of absence and employee assistance. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
  • Assist with annual benefit enrollment periods. Distribute plan summary materials and required notices assist with communicating changes to employees. Arrange for onsite representation by providers. Process changes within deadlines.
  • Process monthly billings from insurance providers. Review billings for accuracy.
  • Act as a liaison with various insurance carriers and foster effective relationships with client representatives.
  • Maintain workers comp. files and documentation.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies procedures and programs.
Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires education generally equivalent to an associate degree in human resource management or business administration and 6 to 12 months related experience in clerical and administrative procedures.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as correspondence administrative rules and legal documents. Ability to write reports and company correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees concerning personnel and payroll issues.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to make calculations and maintain and interpret documentation relating to payroll processing.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: The employee must maintain the confidentiality of personnel payroll and company related matters. The employee must possess good oral communication skills to discuss personnel and payroll related issues with employees. The employee must also be able to operate a variety of office equipment such as a personal computer telephone calculator photocopier facsimile machine and typewriter.



COMMENTS: Regular attendance is required. The H.R. Generalists duties are frequently not routine and are variable requiring the ability to adapt to the specific requirements of the task at hand.
