Job Summary

Title: Human Resources Generalist

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist supports all day-to-day human resources functions for the district including employee onboarding and offboarding leave administration benefits coordination personnel records management recruitment support and employee relations. The HR Generalist serves as the primary point of contact for employees and administrators regarding HR processes and helps ensure compliance with applicable laws collective bargaining agreements and district policies.

Reports To: SPSDirector of Human Capital and Talent Development or designee

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinate employee onboarding orientation and separation processes.
  • Administer employee leave programs including FMLA PFML ADA-related leave tracking workers compensation and other contractual leaves.
  • Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with state and federal recordkeeping requirements.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment changes and annual open enrollment.
  • Support recruitment efforts including posting vacancies scheduling interviews processing hiring paperwork and conducting employment verifications.
  • Monitor licensure certification and compliance requirements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies benefits leave and employment matters.
  • Prepare routine personnel correspondence and HR reports.
  • Assist with investigations disciplinary matters grievances and labor relations documentation.
  • Maintain HRIS and personnel data systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous experience working in an office setting required; experience in a public school or municipal environment preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Public Administration or a related field preferred.
  • Human resources experience preferred including experience with employee records benefits administration recruitment or leave management.
  • Knowledge of employment laws leave administration and personnel practices preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
