Job Summary
We are seeking an HSE Specialist to join the HSE Support team at National Oilwell Varco L.P. In this role you will help maintain and strengthen our health safety and environmental (HSE) programs by supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our HSE management system. You will identify and mitigate workplace risks promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards while partnering with employees and leadership to drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities

- Drive the implementation maintenance and continuous improvement of the facilitys Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System.
- Identify evaluate and assess workplace hazards and HSE-related risks developing and implementing effective preventive and corrective control measures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local regulations including OSHA and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements as well as company policies and standards.
- Conduct routine HSE audits inspections and workplace assessments to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Investigate incidents injuries near-misses and environmental events prepare detailed reports perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with operations engineering maintenance and other cross-functional teams to develop deliver and continuously improve HSE training and awareness programs.
- Maintain accurate HSE records metrics reports permits and documentation to support regulatory compliance and organizational reporting.
- Lead and facilitate regular safety meetings toolbox talks and employee engagement activities while providing HSE guidance to employees contractors and visitors.
- Monitor changes in HSE regulations industry best practices and emerging trends recommending improvements to programs and procedures as appropriate.
- Support the development implementation and periodic testing of emergency response plans and business continuity initiatives.
- Assist with environmental compliance activities including waste management air emissions stormwater hazardous materials and other environmental programs as applicable.
- Support management in achieving HSE performance objectives through data analysis trend identification and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee involvement hazard reporting and continuous improvement across the facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HSE role preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and TCEQ regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills able to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in HSE management software and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement
