BASIC FUNCTION:
The Academic Decathlon Coach is assigned the task of preparing team members for multiple choice tests in science math economics social science literature art and music. Team members must also be prepared to compete in the essay speech and interview categories. Coaches are expected to present materials practice exams and to conduct discussions and presentations during weekly practice sessions. Academic Decathlon team members need to be prepared for testing in multiple subject areas that correlate with a major theme. The theme changes yearly. Practices can begin as early as May (if materials are available) and run through January of the following academic school year. State qualifiers will extend their season into March.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Conduct regular weekly practices.
