  • Team Management: Provide HRexpertiseand oversee workload management to ensuretheteameffectivelymeetstheneedsofassignedunitsandemployees.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: Serve as a trusted point of contact and partner for departmentadministratorsfosteringproductiveandcollaborativerelationshipsacross assigned units.

  • Continuous Improvement:Identifyand implement opportunities for process improvementsenhancedsystemutilizationandserviceexcellenceensuring compliance and responsiveness in a high-volume fast-paced environment.

Followingan initialonboarding period this position will have remote work flexibility up to2days per week and will work onsite a minimum of3days per week.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Identifies designs implements and monitors Human Resources and staff training programs consistent with strategic objectives and initiatives
  • Identifies proposes implements and interprets employment policies and practices for stakeholders and provides recommendations for changes
  • Serves as subject matter expert to support unit managers alignment of business needs and human resources strategy
  • Directs and manages unit operational functions and/or staff
  • Monitors programs and practices to ensure compliance with human resources laws regulations and institutional policies

The College of Letters and Science (L&S) is the heart of UW-Madison and home to a tremendous breadth and depth of departments and degree-granting programs in the humanities; natural physical and mathematical sciences; and social sciences.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $80000 up to $106000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Human Resources payroll or related role

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers staff and campus partners

  • Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting HR policies and procedures

  • Experience with improving processes navigating change and/or applying systems thinking to work

  • Experience utilizing a Human Resource Information System (e.g. Workday Peoplesoft etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct supervisory experience or equivalent experience leading/managing a team

  • Human resources and/or payroll experience in a higher education or similar setting

Education:

Bachelors degreepreferred
