Job Summary

Histotechnologist Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Histology Technologist II to join a fast-paced pathology laboratory team. The ideal candidate will perform advanced histology procedures process surgical specimens maintain laboratory equipment and support daily laboratory operations.

Schedule & Assignment Details
  • Shift: Monday Friday 8:00 PM 4:30 AM

  • Duration: 13 Weeks

  • Department: Histology Laboratory

  • Local Radius Rule: No local candidates within 50 miles

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and accession surgical specimens into Cerner

  • Process tissue specimens including embedding cutting and staining slides

  • Perform histology procedures within Pathology Cytology and IHC departments

  • Maintain laboratory instruments perform quality control and ensure compliance standards

  • Handle complex specimens with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Support inventory management and laboratory documentation

  • Follow all laboratory safety and infection control policies

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience within Histology/Pathology Laboratory required

  • ASCP Certification required (HT or HTL)

  • Successful completion of a formal Histology Technologist training program
    OR

  • Associates degree in Chemical Physical or Biological Sciences

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Experience working with tissue processing embedding microtomy and staining

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Cerner laboratory system

  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience preferred

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Work Environment
  • Laboratory setting with exposure to biological materials and chemicals

  • Requires standing walking and handling laboratory equipment throughout the shift
