How youll contribute

AHistology Technicianwho excels in this role:

• Able to perform/knowledge of all items in the Histology Competency Assessment Booklet and takes initiative to complete competencies.

• Meets turn-around-time standards. Maintains orderly filing system forblocksand slides.

• Ensures lock and slide prepare completedaccurately.

• OrdersHisto/Cytosupplies.

• Correct entry of information intoWindowpathcomputer system.

• Statistical/QA reports complete and timely.

• Maintenance is performed adequately on equipment.

• The Histologist performs a variety of routine laboratory duties in the preparation and processing of histopathological specimens to assist in diagnosis and treatment of disease. This position includes staining and processing of cytology specimens record keeping including slides blocks and reports. A complete list of procedures performedis located inthe competency assessment. Computer entry and retrieval of reports is also required. Techs are expected to work independently without direct supervision. If direct supervision is required to perform any testing or processing this will also be documented on the competency.

What were looking for

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required

• Experience: Proficient knowledge of histology equipment and computer systems. Prior experience in laboratory preferred

• Licenses: CLA or equivalent training in histology

• Required Skills: Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Leadership ability integrity and initiative required. Ability to solve problems effectively and handle stress in a positive manner. Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel medical staff hospital administration and all hospital department.
