Job Summary
Job Summary:
- The HIM Operations Supervisor provides leadership and supervision to HIM Operations teams. This role is responsible for administrative oversight of health information processes daily workflow management and coordination of all HIM operational activities.
- The supervisor fosters collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure timely issue resolution within HIM workflows. Additionally this position ensures regulatory compliance and promotes excellent customer service in all daily operations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of HIM experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressive team leadership experience
- Epic proficiency
- Microsoft Office proficiency
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with the Cures Act and HIPAA Privacy Rules
- Minimum of four (4) years of leadership experience
- OnBase proficiency
Required Education:
- Associates degree in Healthcare Information Technology Business or a related field
Preferred Education:
- Bachelors degree in a healthcare-related field
OR - Masters degree in Healthcare Information Technology Business or a related field
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from AHIMA upon hire
OR - Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from AHIMA upon hire
Preferred Certification & Licensure:
- Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) from AHIMA
OR - Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) from AHIMA
- Epic certification
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and guidance for all HIM processes and staff related to:
- Chart completion
- Medical record integrity
- Release of information
- Scanning operations
- Identify and implement improvements related to policies productivity and quality measures while ensuring staff performance meets departmental expectations.
- Conduct annual staff evaluations and accurately assess performance productivity and quality metrics to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
- Manage administrative responsibilities including preparing and approving work schedules and timecards.
- Represent the Health Information Management department and attend meetings as directed.
- Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by management.
