TITLE: English Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the School Principal to develop students skills and competence in English and the ability to problem solve in a wide variety of settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops and administers Englishcurriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
2. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized andsmall group instruction and student learning.
3. Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
4. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals establishes and communicates clearobjectives to the students for all lessons units and projects.
5. Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping grading andattendance as required.
6. Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies district requirements but also satisfies personal expectations as a professional.
7. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and administers standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements.
8. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well asdifferentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
9. Assume responsibility for related duties that may be assigned by the building principal.
10. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.

SKILLS/ABILITY:

1. Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level or discipline preferred.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

1. MA DESE English Licensure 5-12 Required.
2. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education disciplineapplicable to teaching assignment.
3. Masters degree preferred.

SALARY: Per BTA Contract

CLASSIFICATION: BTA

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion.

Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend sit or stand frequently.

DiPietro Elementary (Preschool Grade 3) Stall Brook Elementary (Preschool Grade 3) Bellingham Memorial School (grades 4-7) and Bellingham High School (grades 8-12) and Keough Memorial Academy (grades 7-12) is our therapeutic day school for students with special needs.
