This position is M-F 8 hours per day Scheduled Hours are TBD. Excellent Health Benefits.
Some after-school weekend and travel time involved- payable hourly.
The HS Student Success- HQ 2 Instructional Assistant (IA)provides guidance and support to high school students that are struggling in class and with attendance while incorporating motivation safety and health in and out of the classroom. The IA will demonstrate high expectations for every student; arrange conduct and/or facilitate monthly parent/family meetings; and assits in identify community partners and establish working relationships with them. The IA will assist in identifying community agencies and develop a comprehensive knowledge of their resources and when needed they will make referrals to them to meet the needs ofstudents and their families. They will attend and participate in individual supervisory counselor and teacher conferences upon request; and confer with the principal counselors teachers and other school personnel as needed. This position will also monitor and manage the Edgenuity On-Line Learning program as well as work with HS staff in the Careers program including college and occupation opportunity visits.
They will also:
- Possibility of HS Graduation and/or Honors Convocation coordination;
- Collect student data and maintain a file on students as needed to develop an intervention plan that addresses assessed problems;
- Interact with students to understand their problems and teach them appropriate decision-making skills;
- Monitor targeted students attendance and intervene when necessary to assure regular attendance;
- Establish a desirable working relationship with parent/guardian to assure constructive parental participation and involvement.
- Assist with and monitor Study Halls as needed
- Work inclassrooms and provide high-level instructional assistance as needed.
- Coordinate manage and monitor Homework Club.
- Other regular student monitoring and supervision as needed in the High School
Qualifications:
- Must be Highly Qualified. (See Below)
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bilingual preferred
- Ability to motivate students
- Team player attitude able to take direction and work cooperatively with certified staff
- Flexible attitude/willingness to work with all student ability levels
- Ability to use current technology & willingness to learn specially designed programs
- Read understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate in a positive manner
- Fingerprinting and Criminal History Check at employees expense is Required once hired - employment is contingent upon Fingerprinting and Criminal History results.
To be Highly Qualified requires a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED)andone of the following:
- An Associates degree
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education - 72 credit hours
- Passed theDistrict Assessmentfor educational assistants in the areas of reading writing mathand pedagogy: or
- Highly Qualified Certificatefrom another school district or Praxis/Workkeys
Approximate Start Date: August 26 2026
Stipend: Additional $2000 per year stipend for extra duties
