Job Summary

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Special Education Teacher to join our team in a co-teaching and/or instructional role. The ideal candidate will provide inclusive differentiated instruction that supports students with diverse learning needs. This role involves partnering with general education teachers implementing individualized supports and fostering academic social-emotional and behavioral growth within the classroom setting.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (Grades 9 - 12 or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of IDEA IEP development and special education laws and compliance
  • Experience with co-teaching models and inclusive instructional practices preferred
  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
  • Ability to assess student progress and use data to guide instruction
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with educational technology and assistive tools
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
  • Prior teaching or student teaching experience at the secondary level preferred
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and deliver standards-based differentiated instruction
  • Provide direct support to students through small group and individualized instruction
  • Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Assess and track student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
  • Adapt curriculum materials and assessments to meet diverse student needs
  • Support classroom management and implement behavior intervention strategies
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams specialists and support staff
  • Participate in IEP meetings team meetings and professional development
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with district policies and procedures
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student family and staff information
  • Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
  • Support students social emotional and behavioral growth
  • Uphold school policies procedures and educational standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
