Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area of mathematics designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills necessary to function successfully in society while supporting the unique needs of a small school environment.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate secondary mathematics certification
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
- Ability to instruct Algebra I Algebra II Geometry Math Models and other assigned mathematics courses
- Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with students parents staff and community members
- Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small school setting and assist with multiple campus activities
- Student teaching or approved internship preferred
- Experience in rural or small school settings preferred
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS and district curriculum requirements for Algebra I Algebra II Geometry Math Models and other assigned courses.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Prepare students for STAAR End-of-Course assessments particularly Algebra I and for college/career readiness.
- Assess student learning regularly and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Utilize student performance data to improve instruction and academic achievement.
- Incorporate real-world applications and problem-solving strategies into mathematics instruction.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity levels.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior in accordance with district policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
- Manage classroom resources technology calculators and instructional materials effectively.
- Maintain open communication with parents students and staff regarding student progress and expectations.
- Participate in parent conferences faculty meetings ARD meetings Section 504 meetings and professional development activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities committees UIL academic events and campus functions as assigned.
- Support the overall mission and culture of the school district.
- In a small school environment assist with additional duties as needed to support campus operations and student success.
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s) if applicable.
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Work prolonged or irregular hours as needed
- Frequent standing walking bending and lifting of instructional materials
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).
Employment is based on the school district calendar and board-approved contract terms.
