Varies 8 12 hr shifts between 7am-7:30pm every third weekend and holiday rotation

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse you will provide direct high-impact patient care ensuring safe and effective dialysis treatments. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will guide essential procedures while your compassionate presence helps create a supportive and reassuring environment for every patient you serve.

Responsibilities
  • Receivespatientinto treatment/exam area and performs patient data collectionanddocuments on flow sheets.
  • Monitors and documents status of vascular accesses using proper cannulation or central venous catheter (CVC) techniquesin accordance withstate federal and local regulations.
  • Documents patient observations andseeksguidance when levels are out of normal range for hospitalized dialysis patients.
  • Monitors and documents onUnityPointapproved flow sheet the patient vital signs applicable to critically ill patients administers fluid therapy or otherappropriate treatmentsas directed documents activities appropriately perUnityPointpolicy and / or state regulations
  • Obtains adequate blood specimensas defined inworkarea.
  • Set ups and monitors dialysis machines and reverses osmosis (RO) water system for correct functioning responds to visual and audible alarms and makes appropriate adjustments before during and after the dialysis treatment performs safety checks as directed by the registered nurse prior to during and following dialysis treatment.
  • Prime dialyzersobtainsdialysate andmonitorthe delivery system during treatments using all alarm systems settings andappropriate tests.
  • Reviews dialysis prescription notes general physical and mental condition of patient through observation and interviewdocumentsobservations.
  • Initiates dialysis via approved accesses using proper cannulation or central venous catheter (CVC) techniquesin accordance withstate federal and local regulations.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Dialysis Technician certification within18 monthsof hire.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.

Experience:

  • Six monthsdialysis experience.

Other:

  • Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
