Job Summary

SUMMARY:


Operates Backhoe Crane frontend loader Vacuum Truck and the like where special operating skills and licenses are required. Assists Mechanic/Pipefitters with daily inspection and maintenance of systems and emergency repairs. May be exposed to storm events as well as traffic toxic chemicals and electrical hazards below-ground structures and trenches.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Using the heavy equipment of the department excavates trenches lifts and lays piping moves material required in construction and repairs to water mains sewer mains and drain lines.

  1. Uses the same equipment in emergencies as required to repair or otherwise keep systems operating during periods of flooding electrical power failure and the like.

  1. Assists in maintenance of pumping stations water tanks outfalls and equipment. Performs troubleshooting for malfunctioning equipment collection system and distribution system as directed

  1. Does necessary masonry work assists in video inspections and sealing of sewer lines and conducts manhole inspections. Performs leak detection hydrant flushing grease and root control sewer cleaning and the like.

  1. Operate other equipment the department has including but not limited to pumps compressors generators rodding machines and tractors.

  1. Mark out-of-water sewer mains and services.

  1. Assists Mechanic Pipe Fitter II with maintenance of distribution and collection system.

  1. Performs other duties of a similar nature and complexity as directed.

REQUIRED:


High school diploma or equivalent Commercial Drivers License (with air brake and Tanker endorsement) Hydraulic Class C License. Additional licenses 4A 1C and 4G. Minimum of 3 years of related experience. Must demonstrate the ability to operate all of the Commissions equipment.


Preferred but not required: Grade 1 Water Distribution License; Grade 1 Collection License.
