Position Summary

Zachry Construction is seeking an experienced GPS Dozer Operator to join our team on a heavy civil highway construction project. The GPS Dozer Operatoris responsible forperforming precise grading and earthwork operations using GPS-guided equipment whilemaintainingsafety efficiency and quality standards. This position requires strong equipment operating skills attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.


WhatYoullDo

  • OperateGPS-equipped bulldozers safely and efficiently to perform grading and earthmoving operations.
  • Follow grade stakes hand signals and GPS controls to achieveaccurateelevations and slopes.
  • Regulate the height and angle of the blade and use the ripper attachment to loosen packed soil and prepare subgrade surfaces.
  • Inspect andmaintainequipment dailycheckingfluid levels andensuringmachinesremainclean and in proper working order.
  • Assistinidentifyingand avoiding existing utilities and underground hazards.
  • Mentor andassistother operators bydemonstratingproper operating techniques and promoting teamwork.
  • Participatein daily safety and coordination meetings and support site safety efforts byidentifyingand correcting hazards promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew membersregardingprogress needs and any issuesencounteredon the job.
  • Perform otherduties asassigned by the supervisor.

WhatWereLooking For

  • Minimum of 4 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
  • Proficiencyin operating bulldozers for fine grading and earthwork applications.
  • Previousexperience with GPS grade control systems preferred; willingness to learnrequired.
  • Knowledge of grading slope and finishing roadway techniques.
  • General operator skills and familiarity with other heavy equipment such as excavators backhoes and loaders preferred.
  • Ability to climb onto andoperateheavy equipment safely.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors walk on uneven terrain and perform labor-intensive tasks as needed.
  • Dependable self-motivated andsafety-oriented.
  • Strong communicationand teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours including nights and weekends as required by project schedules.
