Abrams Tank Maintenance Mechanic

Fort Hood TX

$31.47/Hour

Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide focusing on durability mobility and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on Abrams tanks (M1A1 SA M1A2 SEP V2 SEP V3)
  • Execute and install Modification Work Orders (MWOs) on vehicle systems and components
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using technical manuals flow diagrams and diagnostic procedures
  • Perform repairs on vehicle systems subsystems and components
  • Maintain accountability of special tools test equipment and assigned property
  • Support maintenance fielding and retrofit operations as directed by leadership

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. military installations (NACI clearance if required)
  • Minimum 1 year of mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience with Abrams tanks (M1A1 M1A2 SEP V2/V3) preferred
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and diagnostic flowcharts
  • Certifications/Requirements:
    • Valid state drivers license and ability to obtain a tank drivers license
    • Ability to pass Abrams Job Proficiency Certification
    • Must meet anthropometric (ASR) requirements for operating military vehicles
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs climb and work at heights
    • Work in extreme temperatures and outdoor environments
  • Work Environment:
    • Ability to work independently alongside government personnel
  • Travel:
    • Willingness to travel for maintenance fielding and retrofit operations (CONUS)
