JOB OPPORTUNITY

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Health Services Supervisor to join the Health Housing and Community Services (HHCS) Department! In this role youll oversee day-to-day operations of health clinics and/or complex health programs. You will have a high degree of accountability and on-going decision-making responsibility for assigned programs in the Public Health Division.

The current available position supports the operational infrastructure and day-to-day fiscal management across the Public Health Division. With a funding mix of special funds time studied reimbursement matching funds Medi-Cal billable reimbursement and General Fund this position is essential in the monitoring and maximizing revenue Division-wide expenditure tracking and annual budget planning and analysis.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge skills and abilities is:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major coursework in public health nursing psychology health education or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a health professional in a public health agency. Two (2) years supervisory experience which has included budget and program development is required.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business maintenance of a valid California drivers license and satisfactory driving record is required. Must be willing to work evenings or weekends.

EXAM PROCESS

The exam process will include but may not be limited to:

  • Application review for minimum qualifications (qualifying experience will be calculated based on the application period close date)
  • Oral Exam (tentatively scheduled for the week of September 14 2026)

Tests may consist of any combination of written oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include but are not necessarily limited to typing math reading writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency or any other job-related knowledge skill ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may without notice change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.
