Job Description
REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager of Health Safety and Environmental

SUPERVISES: Safety Officers Fire Watch contractors assigned to San Diego Office.

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists and coordinates functions of a comprehensive on-site Injury & Illness Prevention Program (I2P2) to include incipient fire protection and control hazardous materials and waste management both on project sites and in local satellite offices.

Oversees investigates all local site accidents/injuries; coordinates Sr. Manager HSE and Occupation nurse regarding the processing of Longshore Harbor Workers (LSHW) Compensation claims log recordability.

Ensure compliance with Corporate State and Federal regulations and guidelines regarding to occupational safety & health.

Oversees at a local level development recommend and implement general accident preventive programs to include specific protective procedures and devices.

Perform safety survey audits side by side with subordinates to identify and evaluate occupational health and safety.

Oversees crew and fire watch schedules and carry out periodic safety inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards.

Conducts and coordinates on-site inspections with client to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.

Assist in the development of control systems for identified hazards.

Provide advice and counsel to CA production management team concerning all corporate city state and federal compliance regulations.

Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.

Direct or assist in the development and or modification of specialized education and training materials.

Assist in the coordination and training for new direct hire and / or contractor employees.

Oversees coordination and conduct supervisory and other production safety training programs.

Advise management periodically on the status of the safety program and new safety techniques.

Compile analyze interpret and report accident loss and exposure statistical data as they apply to CA operations.

Assist in the preparation of comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards. Review prepare injury and property damage reports and evaluate root causality.

Conduct and prepare specialized safety programs to communicate hazard control information (LOTO Lanyard and Harness CSE etc.).

Supervises and coordinates the activities of any subordinate health safety fire watch and environmental staff.

Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.

Act as a Compliance Champion for the organization and work to promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Monitoring for changes in and making recommendations for improvements to comply with laws rules regulations and policies that govern business activities in your department or subject area.

Assist in compliance risk assessments and risk reporting in accordance with the Companys risk assessment program.

Developing providing and documenting compliance training as applicable.

Compliance monitoring surveillance and auditing efforts and assisting in investigations of suspected compliance violations.
