TheHealth Information ManagementSupervisoris responsible foroverseeing therecords and scanningteams of Health Information Management managing therecords retrieval destructionand dispensingprocessesfrom origination to completionwhilekeeping patient records confidentialaccurate and in line with regulatory standardsandensuring competency ofthe team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate leadership skills that foster a culture of mentoring coachingmotivatingand engaging staff.

  • Model and communicate key values in the community and to staff in a way that supports Cherry Healths mission.

  • Ensurescheduleandstaffing hoursare sufficient to ensurequalityefficient operationand productivityforpriorities andassignedworkload.

  • Supervise trainandevaluatethe competenciesof staff.

  • Communicate organization initiatives and updates to staff.

  • Assistin the development and monitoring of department/program budget.

  • Assistpatients investigate inquiries andcomplaintsand keepaccuraterecords.

  • Monitorutilizationand performance of the Health Information Exchange (HIE) system around the status of outgoing records.

  • Investigate incoming inquiries and/or complaintsinitiatedby patientsandproviders.

  • Maintain continuing quality improvement andassistin quality management of the teams

  • Maintain strict confidentiality to all medical records by ensuring no unauthorized persons have access to a patients electronic health record.

  • Uses protects anddisclosespatient protected health information (PHI) onlyin accordance withHealth Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

  • Understanding and participation in completion of workrequired

  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

  • Must be a Registered HealthInformationTechnician

  • Associates degree Bachelors preferred

  • Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize large volumes of workin a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under policy driven deadlines

  • Understanding ofmedicaldentaland behavioral health terminologyanatomy physiology surgery diagnostic testing radiology pathologypharmacologyand various medicalspecialties.

  • Ability to use complex thinking skills and judgement to ensure compliance with laws regulations or standards

  • Proficient understanding ofHealthInsurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 and all otherprivacy and confidentiality standards.

  • Effective timemanagementand process improvement skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff colleaguesthepublicand professionals both in verbal and written form.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to complete assigned tasks and complete documentation requirements.

  • Ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships.

  • Demonstrated computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR).

EXPERIENCE:

3 years of experience in medical records including scanning software. Minimum of twoyearsleadership experience with understanding process improvement. Must understand medical terminology and the release of information process and regulations in a health care setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
