Job Summary:MidAmerica Nazarene University a premier Christian Universitylocatedin Olathe KS is seeking applications for the position ofHead softballCoach. This is a full-time 12-month contract. Candidates should exemplify the principles guidelines and covenants of MidAmerica Nazarene University andpossessexperience in administration at the intercollegiate addition candidates shouldpossessleadership skillsdemonstratea commitment to the highest ideals of sportsmanship and academics as well as develop andmaintaina positive student-athlete experience.

Position Description:
- To coach and instruct student-athletes within thesoftballprogram in the various disciplines of the sport and as directedassistwith instruction to maximize knowledge time effort safety&skill.
- Promote the philosophy andobjectivesof the intercollegiate athletic programto includeadherence and enforcement of all departmental policies and procedures as well as university conference and NAIA rules and regulations.
- Assistin recruitment andselectionof student-athletes with critical responsibility of meeting yearly recruitment and roster maintenance goals; recruit andretainexceptional student-athletes to MNU who excel academically.
- Manage resources provided by budget; analyze funding needs and create budget requests; exercise authority for all expenditures related to the softball program.
- Schedule and supervise practice sessions and intercollegiate contests; design and implement a sound pre-season training program; plan for all team practices to maximize time effort safety and skill.
- Ability to foster relationships with alumni friends of the university and localbusiness; generateadditionalfunding to enhance operating budget.
- Monitor and encourage academic progress of the student-athlete culminating in their graduation; counsel student-athletes as needed in academic eligibility disciplinary and personal matters including consulting with student services personnel and other university administrators to resolve problems.
- Adviseand counsel student-athletesregardingobligation tocomply withall university conference and NAIA rules and regulations including those related to financial aid and eligibility.
- Provide for the safety and welfare of team members at all fitness levels working closely with the sports medicinestaff
- Responsible forcomplying withthe rules and regulations of the NAIA as it relates to the program.
- Promote a positive image of the athletic program and the university;establishand enforce standards of personal behavior conduct and appearance for the student-athletes coaches and support personnel.

Qualifications:

- Ability to communicate both orally&in writing in a manner consistent with professional standards including making oral presentations to groups and contributing to the development of high-quality written materials which reflect positively on the university.
- Ability to consistentlydemonstrateexcellent interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external constituencies. Particularly the ability to relate to students and families from a broad range of backgrounds both in group situations and individually and effectively advise students.
- The ability to remain calm in crisis situations to act decisively and to apply sound judgment in determiningappropriate actionregardinginterventionsassistance and referral of students to other university staff members.
- Experienceestablishingcollaborative working relationships with faculty staff students and outsideconstituencys andto workeffectively as a member of a staff where cooperation and teamwork are essential.
- Ability to prioritize&multitaskwithflexibility high energy creativity&attention to detail.
- Ability to lead a staff of coaches for thefurther development of the program andathletes.
- Ability to apply mathematical skills necessary for such tasks as the preparation of statistical reports and developing and monitoring budgets andusetechnologies toaccomplishteam and departmental goals.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelorsdegree isrequiredmastersdegree is preferred.
- A minimum of three to five years of significant progressive and responsible experience in coaching isrequiredwith collegiate level experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to lift move&relocate equipment (often heavy) for drill practices&training
- The ability to run/jog to keep up with athletes in drillpracticesand training sessions.
- The abilityofstand forlong periodsof time during drills practices training&games.
- The ability to travel long distances for games and recruiting.
