Position Title: Head Junior Varsity (JV) Boys Golf Coach
Location: Sparta High School
Reports To: Athletic Director
Season:Spring Athletic Season (with off-season responsibilities as assigned)
Employment Type: Seasonal/Stipend Position

Position Summary

The Head JV Boys Golf Coach is responsible for leading developing and supervising the Sparta High School Junior Varsity Boys Golf program. The coach will foster student-athlete growth through instruction in golf fundamentals sportsmanship teamwork leadership and personal accountability while supporting the overall philosophy and goals of the athletic department and varsity golf program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership
  • Plan organize and conduct all JV boys golf practices competitions and team activities.
  • Teach and develop fundamental golf skills rules knowledge course management and competitive strategies.
  • Promote a positive educational and student-centered athletic experience.
  • Support and align the JV program with the goals expectations and culture of the varsity golf program.
  • Encourage academic achievement character development and responsible citizenship among student-athletes.
Student-Athlete Development
  • Evaluate player abilities and provide appropriate instruction to improve individual and team performance.
  • Foster teamwork discipline respect integrity and sportsmanship.
  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility and attendance requirements in accordance with school and athletic department policies.
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with athletes parents/guardians school personnel and the athletic department.
  • Maintain accurate team records attendance and other required documentation.
  • Assist with scheduling equipment inventory uniform distribution and care of program resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all school conference district state and governing body regulations.
Supervision and Safety
  • Provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices competitions travel and team events.
  • Establish and enforce team expectations and standards of conduct.
  • Promote safe training practices and monitor the physical well-being of student-athletes.
  • Follow emergency procedures and report injuries according to district protocols.
Program Promotion
  • Support efforts to promote participation and interest in the boys golf program.
  • Assist in developing relationships with youth golf programs and community stakeholders.
  • Represent Sparta High School and the athletic department in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience and/or competitive golf experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf rules instruction techniques and player development.
  • Strong communication organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students parents staff and community members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational athletics and student development.
Required Certifications and Clearances
  • Current CPR First Aid and AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season).
  • Completion of all district-required coaching certifications and training.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and any other district-required clearances.
  • Compliance with all applicable state and athletic association coaching requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk golf courses and practice facilities for extended periods.
  • Ability to supervise outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift carry and transport golf equipment and related materials as needed.

Compensation

Compensation will be determined according to the approved coaching stipend schedule and applicable district policies for the school year.
