Western Colorado University invites applications for the.5position ofMountain Sports Freeride Coach. The Mountain Sports Freeride Coach(Freeride Coach)reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation Mountain Sports (ADCR Mountain Sports).TheFreeride Coach will work with the ADCR Mountain Sports for guidance onbudgets and institutional policies.The Freeride coach is expected todevelop and enhance trainingcompetitionand team cohesion. The Mountain Sports Freeride Coach works in collaboration with the other Freeride Ski and Snowboard coaches.

Responsibilities: TheMountain Sports Freeride CoachfacilitatesFreeride training and practicesincludingdryland training on-snow training and education about equipment maintenance and repair.The Freeride Coach will demonstrate and teach effective ski/snowboard techniques appropriate for Freeride team athletes.TheFreeride Coach willplan andexecute a competition season through the International Freeskier and Snowboarder Association. The Freeride Coach willapply risk management best practices to all areas of theprogram andwill communicate and enforce policies that pertain to the team.The Freeride Coach will aid the ADCR Mountain Sports in program recruitment initiatives as well as assess and enhance athlete engagement. Additionally the Freeride Coach willwork closely with the ADCR - Mountain Sports toplanand track the Freerideteamsbudget. The Freeride Coach will alsobe responsible formanaging travel expenditures using a universitypurchasingcard.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience coaching and competing in skiing and/or snowboarding preferably in freeride disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications: IFSA Coaching Certification (Level 100 or higher); SafeSport Certification; additional sport-specific coaching certifications relevant to freeride skiing or snowboarding.

Compensation:This is a.5year-roundposition with a salary of $23000. The position is FLSAexempt.The position is eligible for an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance plans with low co-pays and low out of pocket maximums generous paid time off a shared contribution retirement plan and tuition benefits.
