Job Description:

SUMMARY

Organizes and administers all mattersrelated to baseball and enforces allrules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association(NJACC) Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) and the Ohio Community CollegeAthletic Conference (OCCAC) where applicable as a framework to instruct studentathletes in individual and team fundamentals strategy and physical trainingnecessary to achieve individual and team success. Enforces rules andregulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affectingthe health and safety of players.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

  • Schedules and manages practice sessions and games
  • Ensure compliance with NJCAA OCCAC and Tri-C rules and regulations
  • Organizes and runs staff meetings and attends meetings when called by the Executive Director Athletics Wellness & Recreation
  • Provides emergency first aid and medical care in absence of the trainer
  • Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players
  • Oversees the recruitment of student-athletes and scouting opponents
  • Manages the establishment and enforcement of team rules
  • Leads clinics practices and tournaments
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director Athletics Wellness & Recreation
  • May be responsible for transporting student athletes in College-rented vehicles within the scop of departmental functions. Must complete the Compliance and Risk Management process to become an authorized driver and be granted a waiver to transport students
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum three years of experience coaching baseball and recruiting student athletes
  • Current or renewable Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
  • Current or renewable First Aid or Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Certification
  • Commitment to student success
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations

KNOWLEDGESKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess basic knowledge of fundamental baseball coaching concepts practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Possess excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Possess basic-level skills with Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel
  • Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of the community

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Associates degree
  • Baseball coaching experience at the high school or college level
  • Demonstrated experience/expertise working with students with learning disabilities or special education

  • The work is performed in a normal professional office environment.
  • The work area is adequately lighted heated and ventilated.
  • Typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers files pamphlets books etc.
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
  • Late afternoon practice; weekend games and travel.

This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position with the following Set Rate of Pay: $20.81/hour.
