Hardware Technician

• 16.00 hourly Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
• 10-20 hours per week
• 100% Remote Work Availability: No
• Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

The Hardware Technician (Student) supports the University Information Technology (UIT) Hardware team by assisting with device diagnostics repair and lifecycle processes. This position provides hands-on technical experience while supporting daily IT operations across campus.

This is a part-time non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

• Complete hardware repairs and upgrades (e.g. RAM storage battery replacement) on both university owned devices and personally owned student devices.
• Perform hardware diagnostics and basic troubleshooting on university devices and personally owned student devices.
• Intake documentation and ticket management within TDX.
• Device preparation cleaning and inventory/parts organization.
• Training support and additional duties including endpoint assistance and projects.

• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
• Must be punctual dependable and able to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to follow technical procedures and documentation accurately
• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Must be willing to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
• Valid drivers license
• Basic understanding of computer hardware components (RAM storage batteries peripherals etc)
• Willingness to complete vendor training (Dell TechDirect & Apple certifications)
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

• Previous experience in IT support or technical troubleshooting
• Progress toward or completion of Apple or Dell certifications
• Experience repairing or upgrading computer hardware
• Familiarity with macOS and/or mobile devices
• Experience working in a ticketing system (e.g. TDX or similar)
