Grinder

Position Summary

The Corner Grinder is responsible for grinding smoothing and finishing welded metal components to meet company quality standards and customer specifications. This position ensures welds and fabricated parts are properly prepared for subsequent manufacturing processes including painting or assembly. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious detail-oriented and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate pneumatic and electric angle grinders and other finishing tools to remove weld spatter sharp edges burrs and excess material.
• Grind and blend welds to meet quality and cosmetic standards.
• Inspect welded parts for defects and notify the supervisor of quality concerns.
• Safely move materials using forklifts pallet jacks or overhead cranes.
• Perform routine inspections of grinding equipment and notify maintenance of any issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while.
• Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality workmanship.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses hearing protection gloves and steel-toe boots.
• Assist welders and other production personnel as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing fabrication or metal finishing experience preferred but not required.
• Experience operating angle grinders or similar hand tools is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to safely operate pneumatic and electric hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
• Frequently lift carry push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending kneeling reaching twisting and repetitive hand movements.
• Ability to perform repetitive grinding motions throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in environments with dust sparks heat vibration and loud noise.
• Must be able to wear all required PPE for extended periods.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a manufacturing welding environment where exposure to welding operations metal dust sparks noise and moving machinery is common. Employees are expected to work safely while maintaining production and quality standards.
