As part of the DPS Communications Team the graphic designer position will be responsible for developing materials to benefit department-wide marketing instructional and public awareness efforts through creative design work. The graphic designer is expected to have an excellent sense of design and know the role it plays in brand positioning and strategy. The graphic designer will create deliverables for both digital and print production and is responsible for the overall quality of creative work and drives the creative vision for the entirety of the department. This position is responsible for consulting with clients to determine project parameters such as purpose audience conceptual focus and scope and concept cost options. Position works independently; work is reviewed for quality and design concept.

Skills include:
Ability to conceptualize and create visual design as it relates to the area of responsibility from creation (the idea stage) through delivery (final product) and ability to maintain learn and stay current with developments and trends as they relate to visual design.
Proficiency in industry-standard software (like Adobe Creative Suite) and a solid grasp of design principles.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to develop and maintain solid relationships with clients and customers by listening understanding and responding to client/customer needs.
Ability to advise clients/customers on a range of options for the visualization and communication of information and ability to assess client/customer needs and determine appropriate outlet method audience and scope.
Ability to promote subject matter in a wide variety of visual media.

Recruitment Range: $37377.00 - $65408.00

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits including paid vacation paid sick leave paid holidays retirement and health insurance. We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences including Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Management Preferences
