Job Summary
Graphic Design Fundamentals Certificate We seek a dynamic adjunct faculty member to teach Evergreens Graphic Design Fundamentals Certificate program. The program consists of three 4-credit courses offered in an online synchronous format. The course sequence introduces students to foundational design principles advances through brand identity development and culminates in professional portfolio creation. This position emphasizes project-based learning creative exploration and applied technical skills using industry-standard tools preparing students for entry-level opportunities and further study in graphic design and related fields. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in contemporary graphic design practices a commitment to student-centered teaching and the ability to create meaningful hands-on learning experiences from introductory to intermediate levels in a fully online context. Faculty are expected to draw on professional expertise to revise and develop content within the following structure: Graphic Design I: Introduce foundational design principles and visual communication concepts. Guide students through experimentation with typography composition and image-making. Support development of basic skills in Adobe tools and creative workflows. Graphic Design II: Teach brand identity development through creation of multiple style guides. Guide students in print publication and layout design using Adobe InDesign. Develop students intermediate-level technical and conceptual design skills. Graphic Design III : Mentor students in designing and executing an individual capstone project. Guide students in creating digital portfolios using Adobe Portfolio. Provide guidance on career development presentation and professional practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Graphic Design Visual Communication or a closely related field OR Bachelors degree in Graphic Design plus 5 years of full-time employment as a graphic design professional. Professional experience in graphic design branding publication design or related areas. Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator InDesign Photoshop). Experience teaching art and design curriculum at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering instruction in an online or remote learning environment. Strong web-based portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand identity and publication design. 2 or more years experience teaching Graphic Design at the college level.
