Description of Work

Position currently qualifies for a telework option. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

The North Carolina Forest Service is a team of professionals who provide forest protection emergency response resource management and environmental education to the residents and landowners of North Carolina through a variety of programs. The NC Forest Service provides services to the 100 counties in North Carolina.

The Grants Monitoring Assistant is assigned to the Grants Finance Branch of the North Carolina Forest Service Administrative Services Division. This position assists the NCFS Grant Program Managers in developing risk assessments and compliance monitoring plans for grant sub-recipients. This position helps to ensure that these activities are consistent across all NCFS Divisions adhere to all applicable policy and procedure are complete and are conducted on schedule. This position also provides administrative assistance to the NCFS Grant Program Managers including generating budget revisions journal voucher requests requisition requests reconciling purchasing card transactions and entering information into a grants database. This position also completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Power Point Outlook).

  • Knowledge of purchasing goods and services.

  • Experience in grant administration.

  • Ability to post reports maintain databases and work well independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines in order to resolve problems and answer questions.
