Job Summary
The Grants Manager Post-Award (Term) is a member of the grant administration team within the College of Connected Computing (CCC). This position is responsible for providing comprehensive post-award grant management support to faculty and research teams ensuring compliance with university policies sponsor requirements and applicable regulations throughout the award lifecycle.
The Grants Manager partners closely with principal investigators departmental staff and central administrative offices to support the financial and administrative management of sponsored awards including financial monitoring reporting compliance and closeout activities.
This is a term staff position expected to exist for a period longer than six months but not beyond one year. Continued employment is contingent upon business needs and available funding.
About the Work Unit
The College of Connected Computing is Vanderbilts first new college in 40 years and is in the early stages of building its academic and administrative structure. The College advances interdisciplinary research and expands computing education through a computing for all approach.
- Manage the post-award administration of sponsored research awards from award setup through closeout.
- Monitor sponsored project budgets and expenditures for allowability allocability and reasonableness.
- Prepare budget reconciliation forecasting and financial reports and meet regularly with principal investigators to review financial status and projections.
- Ensure compliance with sponsor requirements including effort reporting financial reporting progress reporting coordination and other post-award obligations.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and departmental staff regarding post-award policies procedures and sponsor requirements.
- Collaborate with central university offices to resolve post-award administrative and financial issues.
- Monitor award activity to identify compliance concerns and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate grant records and documentation supporting sponsored project administration.
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance post-award operations and customer service.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide interim account support and other post-award administrative assistance as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the research administration function within the College.
Supervisory Relationships
This position reports to the Research Lead for the College of Connected Computing. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-award grants management or sponsored research administration experience.
- Working knowledge of federal regulations (including Uniform Guidance) and sponsor requirements governing sponsored research.
- Experience managing sponsored project budgets financial reporting and compliance activities.
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and administrative partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and enterprise financial or grants management systems.
- Experience working in a higher education research environment.
- Familiarity with Vanderbilt Universitys sponsored research administration systems and processes.
- Experience supporting faculty with a diverse portfolio of federal foundation and industry-sponsored awards.
