Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Grant Accountant to support the financial operations of one of our well-established clients in the Sacramento region. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment enjoys managing multiple funding streams and brings strong analytical reconciliation and communication skills.
The Grant Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate grant-related financial records ensuring compliance with funding requirements and supporting program and finance leaders with timely reporting. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful operational improvements while supporting a collaborative team-centered department. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity and our client offers a generous benefits package.
Pay:- $35-38/Hr. (DOE)
Role Type: Contract to Hire
100% onsite in downtown Sacramento
9/8/80 alternate work schedule with every other Friday off

Responsibilities
- Manage grant-related accounting journal entries and month-end close activities.
- Reconcile grant funding accounts program budgets and balance sheet schedules.
- Track grant expenditures prepare drawdowns and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Prepare grant financial reports and reimbursement packages for federal state and private funders.
- Review and code invoices with proper GL allocation and grant documentation.
- Monitor restricted funds grant budgets cost allocations and supporting schedules.
- Assist with annual budgets forecasts audits and grant compliance reviews.
- Partner with program and finance teams to provide timely financial insights.
- Support process improvements and SOP development within the grants and accounting function.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- 35 years of accounting experience; nonprofit or grant-funded experience preferred.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems (MIP Intacct NetSuite QuickBooks etc.).
- Excellent analytical organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated reliability efficiency and commitment to high-quality work.
