Graduate Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

The Opportunity

Mipac has expanded into the United States and opened a new office in Tucson Arizona.

This is a unique opportunity for a Graduate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our business at an exciting stage of growth and build your career within a global engineering company. Working alongside experienced engineers across North America and Australia you will gain exposure to world-class mining minerals processing and heavy industrial projects from day one.

As a member of our engineering team you will develop practical experience across the full project lifecycle including engineering design control systems testing commissioning and site-based project delivery. You will be supported by experienced mentors and have the opportunity to learn from technical specialists across a range of automation platforms and industrial technologies.

Youll gain exposure to large-scale projects delivered internationally and depending on project requirements may have opportunities to travel to project sites across North America and internationally.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate who enjoys solving complex problems working collaboratively learning new technologies and seeing engineering solutions come to life in real operating environments.

Your responsibilities

As part of a multidisciplinary project team you will:

• Assist with the design and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for mining mineral processing and industrial projects.
• Support the development and review of engineering documentation including:
• P&IDs
• Instrumentation datasheets
• I/O lists and signal schedules
• Loop diagrams
• Functional descriptions and control narratives
• Alarm registers and cause & effect matrices
• FAT SAT and commissioning documentation
• Support PLC DCS and SCADA development configuration and testing activities.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning activities.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during project delivery and commissioning.
• Work closely with process electrical mechanical and control systems engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Learn and apply company client and industry engineering standards.
• Contribute to engineering design reviews project meetings and technical workshops.
• Build practical engineering knowledge through exposure to real projects and operating facilities.

What we are looking for

Essential

• Bachelors degree (or final year of study) in:
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechatronics Engineering
• Instrumentation & Control Engineering
• Or a related engineering discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for automation control systems engineering technology and industrial processes.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Desirable

• Exposure to PLCs SCADA systems industrial automation robotics or programming through university projects internships or personal interests.
• Knowledge of control systems instrumentation or industrial communications.
• Previous internship co-op vacation work or practical engineering experience.
• Interest in mining minerals processing energy manufacturing or heavy industry.
• No prior industry experience is required. We are looking for curious motivated graduates who are eager to learn and develop their careers.
